I am not worthy of writing much and I feel humbled writing this but please take a few minutes to “google” Liam Harker and read a little more about Liam’s very short life for yourself.

Every, and I mean EVERY penny raised on the night of “Liam’s Choice” will be going to the Teenage Cancer Trust, so please come along and dig deep into your hearts.

                                                                        Here we go again!!!

I am hoping there will be not too big a difference from last years prices. Example 2011.. Four people sharing a 4 berth inside cabin with 4 scooters both ways worked out at £75 to £80 a person. Rally fee. Probably £20 again. This year there will be no problems with me or anyone else recieving your cheques. All monies for the Rally, TShirts and Cabin fees will go directly into the Selby Branch of Yorkshire Bank via my paying in book. We learnt a few lessons fom the last Rally in Holland regarding the event TShirts. This time all pre ordered tshirts will be paid for up front. Remember you must be a YSA Member to take advantage of our discounted cabin price I shall remind you of the information I require shortly.Watch this thread for more inf.ormation. Derek Cooper

Its soon come round to the third Yorkshire Scooter Alliance rideout in West Yorkshire. The intended route was to be Halifax Piece hall, which was cancelled at the last moment. A few of the guys got together, to make sure the rideout still happened.
The starting point was at the Casa Hotel, Brighouse and ended at Jack O`Mitre, Huddersfield. Taking in some of West Yorkshires finest scenery. As normal on YSA rideouts we leave at 1.00pm prompt, with around an estimated 160 scooters, braving the wet and windy day. The views were magnificent if only we could have paused at the top, where you can see all of the surrounding area of West Yorkshire. The journey lasted just over half an hour, and was well worth it. The catering tent soon had queues of cold scooterists, in need of a hot drink and food, fed and watered it was then time for a quick look round the stalls, who had braved the windy weather and a catch up with fellow scooterists. It was then time to jump on their trusty steads and head off home.

York Inset SC in association with Harrogate Porn Stars SC proudly announces the YSA 10th anniversary year Knaresborough to York Rideout. It will be on Sunday March 27th 2011. Meeting at the Mother Shiptons car park, Knaresborough for a 1pm set off to York Acorn RLFC club, Thanet Road, YO24 2NW.
There will be the usual stalls (including YSA stall and patches), custom show, DJ, food, beer and frolics. There will be a repeat of last years route due to popular demand and we’ll be giving out flyers on arrival as well as having the event stewarded.
This well established event is always a cracker and has also raised a good few quid for various charities over the years. We have had raffles etc in the past but this year have decided instead to do a voluntary collection. This year is especially important as we are raising money for the York Normandy Veterans Association. We’ve raised over a grand for these gentlemen already around the local clubs and your donations are desperately needed. It may rain, it might be cold but thats a damn sight better than being shot at on a foreign beach, so please, no excuses!
The York NVA will be making the trip back, probably for the last time this year. The cost including health insurances is not cheap. These boys are old and not in the best of health and receive virtually no funding other than what they raise. Its a scandal that they have to raise funds in this way but thats how it is. We are pleased to say that some of them will be attending to collect the cheque! We had a great turnout last year, clubs and solo riders alike and are hoping for an even better one this year.
We would love to see any of you that can make it. Aside from the fact that the event itself is a belter if you can help these brave old lads make that last trip to pay tribute to their fallen comrades you will be doing more good than you know. Her majestys press will be there as well so try and behave!!!
                                                                        Thanks for reading!
                                                                        Picture
                                                                        York Normandy Veterans Association.

At the end of September 2010, the members of York Inset Scooter Club were concerned to hear that the York Normandy Veterans Association were struggling to raise fund s for one last visit to their fallen comrades in Normandy in 2011.
A unanimous decision by members decreed that we should do something about this.
As a result, the club held a sup rise fundraising evening for the veterans at our meeting place, The Shoulder of Mutton public house in York. Over seventy scooterists and bikers from local clubs including Rydale Ryders, Selby Moving Targets, York Scooter Club, York Ebor and Malton Scooter Club formed a guard of hon our and then collected and presented £800.00 to the Veterans. The Veterans were overwhelmed by the occasion and there were many scooterists with a tear in their eyes at the end of a tremendous evening. The Veterans and riders were also treated to an excellent buffet by the Landlord. York Inset are now planning several more fundraising events to ensure that the Normandy Veterans achieve their goal.An amusing incident during the evening was that until the Veterans met us , they thought we rode mobility scooters as they do.

Well here we go again another trip to Batley for our start of the season event,

But what do we all know about Batley Variety Club.

It was a phenomenon of the sixties, It was a step up from the workingman’s club, It was opened in 1967 and the man who put Batley on the map was James Corrigan who came from a fairground family. He found a derelict site on Bradford road and on Easter Sunday 1967 opened its door it had taken 14 weeks to build.

People said it couldn’t be built and it was a joke but James Corrigan

Knew the area and knew the area had 5 million people in a 10 – 15 mile area. Turns on a weekend evenings was the big attraction and loads full of coaches was to tell the truth of how good this was going to be. This was a place you went to for a treat it had carpets which was unheard of in working men’s clubs and also chance to sit at them times in a posh area with table all facing the main stage.

The thing also about this place it attracted some of the worlds best acts, acts like Dusty Springfield, Guys and Dolls, Brotherhood of Man and Barnsley’s own comedian Charlie Williams also then a chance of Chicken in a basket for all of 6 shillings and 6d.

The venue brought local comedians and made them star’s  other big names like Bee Gees, Tina Turner, Tom Jones, Eartha Kitt filled the place it was said to have 300,000 members.

It closed in 1978 due to rising fees to attract the big stars and peoples changing tastes.

Then Corrigans entertainment manager Derek Smith went on to run the club renamed The frontier for 24 years before calling it a day. In 2005 a group of Batley businessmen bought the club as we see the club is now where you still get chance to see the big stars and also THE YORKSHIRE SCOOTER ALLIANCE.
