Ebor Scooter Club is a new small friendly club based in York, North Yorkshire formed in September 2010. It takes its name from a fortress founded by the Romans in 71AD which they called Eboracum.
Eboracum was one of the most important cities of Roman Britain and later became the capital of the province of Britannia Inferior (lower Britain). Ebor for short is where we herald our name from.
The first contact or “Ace Face” of the club is Adam Huxley, the spokesperson of the club which is a no-nonsense club with no subs or fees, policies or politics, committees or trustees. All issues regarding the club are discussed as a group for the good of the club. Adam is a founder member of the club and a well seasoned scooterist who leans towards the MOD side of the scooter scene and enjoys live revival bands.
Ebor Scooter Club is proud to boast a celebrity element to the club membership. Andrew “Whitey” White is an active member of Ebor and needs no introduction as many people will already know him as the guitarist/vocalist of the hugely successful alternative rock, post punk revival, new wave Leeds band the Kaiser chiefs.
Also in the club is Alan May aka “Glory boy” who although well known in scootering in York and countrywide is also the DJ of a new radio show* which plays the very best of MOD music and is rapidly growing in popularity with worldwide listeners.
Other members in the club include Gary Barker who has been scootering for over 28 years, who was once a member of York Scooter club whose GP scooter “Nosferatu” was featured in scootering in 1988 centre pages. Father and son from Harrogate Neil and Aaron Halton, from Leeds Mick the Mod, York’s Al Cammo, Jon Gregory, Nick Lawn, Paul Carr, Tim Brown, Colin Turnbull, Dean Tunstall, Brothers Kevin and Alan Mitchell, Kevin Bainbridge the well known Northern soul DJ, Ex Inset founder Mark Armitage, and the club mechanic Dave Lee as well as a few more faces...
